Lose Weight Walking – Tips To Help You Lose Weight Walking
Many people wonder if it’s possible to lose weight walking. Well, the short answer is yes. Exercise is an important factor in any weight loss plan, and walking is a great exercise to do. Walking is simple, and anyone can do it. It’s also a weight loss exercise that just about anyone can fit into their busy schedule, which makes it even more ideal. Let’s go over some tips to help you lose weight walking.
First, you need to put together a health eating plan. You can’t just eat junk and go walking ever day and expect to lose weight. Eating healthy and walking go hand in hand when it comes to weight loss. You don’t necessarily need a particular diet, you just need to eat healthier food, smaller portions, and monitor your calorie intake. To start, try not to exceed 1500 calories per day and try to eat lean meats, veggies, fruits, and drink 8-10 glasses of water per day.
Now, you’re ready to start walking but there are a few things you need to check before hand. One thing you need to do is make sure you have a good pair of running shoes to go walking in. It doesn’t matter what brand, Nike, Addidas, New Balance, whatever you want. The main thing here is that you want your feet to be comfortable. That’s why it’s important to get running shoes. That doesn’t mean you have to run, but they are better built and more flexible and any regular shoe.
Depending on how long it’s been since your last exercised, you may want to start out slow and pace yourself. If you haven’t exercised in a while, I would start with a 30 minute walk. You can keep adding time and bumping that up once you get going. You don’t really want to go higher than an hour. Ideally, you should try to walk 30-60 minutes per day, 5-6 days per week. If you don’t want to take a day to relax, by all means go for 7 days if you’re up to it. I usually go for a walk every morning and this is great to start your day off. Of course some people can’t do that and that’s perfectly ok. If possible, you should try to start your day off with a nice walk.
Once you have some more exerpeince under your belt and you have built up your strenght, you can kick your walking into high gear with some interval training. You can try to speed walk for on and off for 10 minutes during your 60 minute walk. You can start walking up hill. If you are walking on a treadmill in the gym or at home, you can increase your speed, increase the incline, or even both. Doing these things will add to your weight loss, but if you just want to stick to walking that is perfectly ok. As long as you stay consistent with whatever your are doing, you are going to lose weight.
If you work hard, and put forth the effort, effective weight loss can easily be achieved by walking. A lot of people will down play walking and claim it doesn’t work, but that’s only the people who walk for a week and they quit because they don’t see massive results. This is not a quick thing to do to lose weight. This is something that should become a part of your daily routine and if you can do that, you can lose weight walking.
